The Town of Mandale is located in the central part of North Carolina in the Piedmont Region. The town is situated on the banks of the Haw River and is bordered by the towns of Elon and Graham. The city was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Virginia who purchased the land from the Saura Indians. Information can be found here.

The city was named after the Saura Indian chief, Mandale. The town grew slowly at first but began to flourish after the arrival of the Carolina Central Railroad in 1858.
